Wording a Bequest, Will or Codicil
What is a Bequest?
A Charitable Bequest (often called a Legacy) is a gift of personal property, money, shares, stock, bonds or personal possessions, owned by a person at the time of death, which is directed by the provisions of that person's Will to serve a religious, educational, political, or general social purpose, to benefit mankind, the community or a particular segment of it.
A simple way to leave a bequest is to include a residuary gift. This means that a percentage or the remainder of your estate can be left to the Hunter Prostate Cancer Alliance after your family and other beneficiaries have been taken care of.
What are the different types of bequests?
